David Champagne est titulaire d'un diplôme
d'études collégiales en photographie du Cégep de Matane. Au fil
des années, il a collaboré avec plusieurs médias (Le Devoir,
Radio-Canada, Courrier International, Photo Solution, l'Actualité,
Urbania), mais également des ONG, autant locales qu’internationales
(CECI, Handicap International, Croix-Rouge Canadienne, Aide médicale
pour la Palestine, Cyclo Nord-Sud, Maison Bleue). Au
fil des années, David a été récipiendaire de plusieurs bourses,
Conseil des arts du Québec, Conseil des arts du Nouveau-Brunswick
ainsi que le fonds TV5. Son
travail a également été vu à travers quelques expositions
individuelles et collectives. Membre du collectif photo Hors d’État,
il est
présentement installé dans la péninsule acadienne, au
Nouveau-Brunswick.
David travaille principalement dans le domaine du documentaire photographique. Il est passionné par l'être humain, par ses comportements et par son mode de vie. La photographie lui permet de tracer un portrait social de notre époque. Grâce à elle, il explore la notion du territoire ainsi que la façon dont l'homme modifie ce dernier. Il s’intéresse également à la question de l’identité et aux apparences.
Il cultive aussi un intérêt pour le photomontage, où il détourne, modifie et transforme les photographies issues de ses documentaires, afin de livrer des images au contenu surréaliste, humoristique et dénonciateur.

Matane. Over the years, he has
collaborated with many members of the media industry (Le Devoir,
Radio-Canada, Courrier International, Photo Solution, l’Actualité,
Urbania) as well as NGOs both local and international (CECI, Handicap
International, Canadian Red Cross, Medical Aid for Palestine, Cyclo
Nord-Sud, La Maison Bleue). David has also received several grants,
notably from the Conseil des arts du Québec, the New Brunswick Arts
Board and the TV5 Fund. His work has been displayed in individual and
collective expositions. He currently resides in the Acadian Peninsula
of New Brunswick.
